Reinhold Industries' Aerospace division manufactures structural and ablative composite components and nozzle assemblies for the defense industry. These components include rocket nozzles, exit cones, re-entry heat shields, radomes, antennas and missile frames. Reinhold is widely regarded as the leading supplier of ablatives in the solid rocket propulsion business. Reinhold has been a pioneer in building components for space exploration since the earliest days of the space program.

Reinhold is producing ablative hardware for launch vehicles and propulsion systems such as Space Shuttle, Delta, Castor II and IV. Reinhold stands as a leading producer of ablative components for nozzle assemblies used on defense programs, such as Hellfire, Standard Missile and Global Missile Defense.

Minuteman III

In 2001, Reinhold was awarded the contract for the replacement of various insulation components for the Minuteman III Propellant Replacement Program. The LGM-30G Minuteman intercontinental ballistic missile (“ICBM”) is an element of the nation’s strategic deterrent forces. In 1988, Congress voted to decommission 3,335 of the 4,000 ICBM rockets in the fleet and authorized the refurbishment of the remaining 645 rockets. The life extension program is under way to keep the missiles safe, secure and reliable well into the 21st century.

These major programs include: replacement of the aging guidance system, remanufacture of the solid-propellant rocket motors, replacement of the standby power systems, repair of launch facilities, and installation of updated, survivable communications equipment, and new command and control consoles to enhance immediate communications. Minuteman’s maintenance concept capitalizes on high reliability and a “remove and replace” approach to achieve near 100 percent alert rate.
